Woodsmen’s Team Caps Off Successful Spring Season with Win in Open Division at Spring Meet

Durham, NH ~ The 2025 spring woodsmen's season has been a successful one for Paul Smith's College, as the Bobcats have earned first-place results and podiums across a variety of classifications and disciplines.
 
The season started off at the UCONN Jack and Jill competition on March 8th in Storrs, CT.  PSC was represented by three pairs of competitors: Owen Probst (Clarence Center, NY) & Taylor Sirois (Seekonk, MA), Kyle Joray (Goshen, CT) & Nita Schumacher (Clifton Springs, NY), and Keirnan Ballard (Falmouth, MA) & Deilia Paro (Russell, NY).  All Pairs performed very well with Probst and Sirois winning first place overall in the collegiate division.  PSC Alumni Danny Miner and Sydney Krompasky took the first-place overall trophy in the professional division.
 
On Saturday April 5th, the team traveled to SUNY Cobleskill to compete in the Women's, Men's, Jack and Jill, and Open Divisions.  In their respective divisions, the Women's 1 team finished second, the Open team placed third, and the Jack and Jill team finished fifth.  The Men's 1 team took home the first-place trophy for their division with the Men's 2 team finishing right on their heels in second place.
 
Finger Lakes Community College then hosted a competition on April 12th on their campus in Canandaigua, NY – The PSC Men's 1 team were once again victorious finishing in the top spot.  The Open, Jack and Jill, and Women's 1 teams all finished second in their divisions as the Women's 1 team missed first place by just a single point.
 
The Woodsmen's Team Traveled to Durham, NH on April 26th and 27th for the annual Spring Meet hosted by UNH.  This rotating competition and de facto collegiate timbersports national championship is hosted by a different school every year (PSC hosted the competition in 2024 and came away with the win in the Men's Division on home soil last year).  The Bobcats were represented in the Men's, Jack and Jill, and Open divisions as the PSC Open Team was crowned the 2025 Spring Meet Open Division Champion!
 
Teams competed in nineteen different events including chopping, sawing, axe throwing, splitting, canoeing, packboard relay, and more.  Despite the torrential rain and harsh winds, Paul Smith's College teams performed very well with wins in the following events:
 
Final Results:
Open Team: 1st Place with 45 points
Men's Team: 2nd Place with 102 Points
Jack and Jill Team: 2nd Place with 85 points (The first-place team finished with 86 points)
