Eliot Soderholm and Ellen Haas pace the Bobcats at the Cock A Doodle Shoe Snowshoe Races in the 10K
Eliot Soderholm ran a very smart race, pacing off two snowshoe legends ~ Matt Medeiros and Jeremy Drowne for much of the race before breaking for the lead with a serious push with about 1,500 meters remaining.

Ellen Haas and Eliot Soderholm pace the Paul Smith's College Snowshoe Team with solid 10K performances in the Cock A Doodle Shoe Snowshoe Races – Saranac, NY
Eliot Soderholm won the 10K at the 2025 Cock A Doodle Shoe Snowshoe race held at the New Land Trust in Saranac, NY with a time of 49:43. Matt Medeiros placed second in 51:00 followed by race director Jeremy Drowne in 51:13. PSC graduate Zack Sprott – Scribner placed fourth in 59:23. Carson Wohlers (PSC Senior) placed fifth in 1:03:05.
Ellen Haas was the second woman to finish the 10K, with a time of 1:13:56. Caitrin Herdic won the event with a time of 1:11:21.
Cazimir Couble (Paul Smith's) placed 5th in the men's 5K in 34:36. Nat Ross led the way for the PSC women with a 5th place finish for the women with a time of 39:29, followed by Olivia Bobbie in 41:23 in 7th, and Chloe Freund in 9th place with a time of 41:51.
The students had only returned to the campus two days before competing in the Cock A Doodle Shoe, while hiking St. Regis Mountain in chilly temperatures on snowshoes on their first day back to the campus. The Cock A Doodle Shoe is a fine race to give the students who have never run on snowshoes a chance to experience the sport, and given the next seven weeks, these same runners will acclimate to the extra weight and resistance that snowshoes can add to your running gait, while also giving these young runners stronger hip flexors and rapid leg turnover after the snowshoes are removed in the spring. They will be much stronger and faster as a result of the snowshoe training and racing.
