Bozeman, MT ~ The Paul Smith's College Biathlon team made a powerful statement at the 2025 Collegiate National Championships, securing impressive results and a runner-up overall team finish in a highly competitive field. The event, held at high altitude in Bozeman, MT, brought together top NCAA programs as the Bobcats finished strong across all three days of racing.
Leading the charge for the Bobcats was
Philip Matthews (Half Moon, NY), who earned a fourth-place finish in the Men's Sprint.
Kaisa Bosek (Alexandria, MN) also had a standout performance, taking fifth place in the women's race. Matthews and Bosek were part of a team effort that helped Paul Smith's College finish second overall behind Montana State University and ahead of the University of Vermont.
Both Matthews and
Bridget Reusch (Farmington, ME) had impressive showings in the junior races as well, finishing on the podium in both the Sprint and Mass Start events. Matthews finished in third place while Reusch took second in the Sprint on Day 1, followed by repeat performances with Matthews taking third and Reusch securing second once again on Day 2 in the Mass Start.
The final day of racing saw continued excellence, with
Edison Byrum (Twelve Mile, IN) finishing in fourth place in the Super Sprint. Reusch, demonstrating her consistency and skill, landed on the podium for the third consecutive day, earning a second-place finish in the Super Sprint and cementing her place as one of the top performers of the competition.
"This was an incredible result for our team," said Head Coach Matthew Dougherty.
"Competing against NCAA Division I programs in a high-altitude environment is no easy task, but our athletes rose to the challenge. To have athletes on the podium for all three days of competition speaks to their hard work, perseverance, and the strong support they receive from our coaches and community," added Dougherty.
The Bobcats' outstanding performances at the 2025 Biathlon Collegiate National Championships further solidify Paul Smith's College's reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate skiing, showcasing the talent and resilience of their athletes across multiple disciplines.
