Over twenty runners enjoy 28th annual Pumpkin McMuffin 5K Fun Run at Paul Smith's College

As part of the seasonal festivities, the Paul Smith's College running community and family members took part in the 28th annual Pumpkin McMuffin 5K Fun Run.  For several years, the students have grown to love preparing a variety of costumes which they have chosen to wear over the 5K course through the woods.  This festive 5K had grown to be quite popular among the local running community, but to help reduce the potential spread of COVID on the campus and beyond, this year's event was once again restricted and not advertised to the general public.

While participants could count on the potential of winning maple syrup, bags of potatoes, a pumpkin and possibly a Mr. Potato Head, the home made pumpkin muffins and apple cider were not doubt the high point of the morning's activities.

The event has taken on a new meaning since 2014, as we lost Nic Pendl due to complications associated with having a seizure on the campus.  Only five years later, we again lost a valued member of our running community as fellow graduate, Joe St. Cyr also died of complications associated with having a seizure associated with epilepsy.  These tragic events really forced the running community at the college to really examine what is most important in life, and what is most valuable.
