A conference play filled weekend had the Lady Bobcats going 1-1 in a tough loss against a strong NHTI and a tie with Hampshire College. Starting with the NHTI some key players from the match was Mallory L'Esperance who started her first game after recovering from a knee injury and was a force to reckon with no matter where she was playing on the field, and Amanda Kern who stepped up in the center mid position and is continuing to improve. Some words from coach Waterbury " NHTI is incredibly skilled. As we continue to get better I think we will start to compete. Although the score does not show it, the girls improved tremendously compared to the first time we played NHTI. We were positive and still trying to attack throughout the entirety."
On a more positive note the match that ended with a 1-1 final against Hampshire College showed a birght future for the Lady Bobcats as the season goes along. Stand out players from the match were Anna Mehner and Mallory L'Esperance, as the strikers up top led the bobcats to tieing the game up with 2 minutes left. Mallory made an beautiful run up the field and crossed the ball to Anna who buried it for us in the 88th minute of play. Positive insight from Coach "We played hard until the very end. I was so proud of the girls to keep fighting to force a tie with a team we had previously lost 4-1 to. We played a great game and I think we really surprised Hampshire. It was a awasome tie for us that we needed. After losing previously to Hampshire, I think the tie shows that we are improving as a team. The effort was from everyone was great, I couldnt have asked for more from the girls.
The team is looking forward to a matchup with SUNY Delhi this Saturday Oct 1, Lady Bobcats arent looking to dissapoint.
